A Delhi court on Friday denied bail to Jawaharlal Nehru University student Sharjeel Imam in connection with allegedly giving an inflammatory speech and inciting violence in 2019, saying that the speech was on communal lines and its content 'tend to have a debilitating effect on the peace and harmony.'
He also alleged that the Hyderabad Central University authorities curb democratic rights in the name of 'surveillance'.
There is going to be no defence of freedom of thought from this government.
Delhi Police spokesperson Mandeep Singh Randhawa said the internal security of the JNU lies with the varsity administration. He said the police did not reach late and handled the situation professionally.
